Car update and survey
My car is back!!!! YAY!!!! Woohoo!!! But, (there always has to be a but right?) we can't use the air conditioner until we hit 1000 km. I have no idea why but I am not trying to break the car and have it sent back to the shop. So technically if I really really need to go somewhere I can but it is still 100 degrees by 10:00am so I am not trying to dehydrate Enrique, myself, or bebe noviembre (Jose Ricardo, Ricardo Jose, Ricardo Miguel, we are still not sure on the name). I am thinking of driving around the block at like 2am for a couple hours to try and up the kilometraje ;) jajaja. Honestly though I am sooo thankful to have my mode of transportation back, in fact I am off to a baby shower at 3ish today, yay!! adult girly time!! So exciting.
Now for my survey. I would like to know (from those of you who live in Mexico mostly) if you:
1. Have domestic help
2. How many times he/she comes a week
3. What their job entails
4. Do you feed them
5. How much do they earn
When I get some answers I will enlighten everyone on why I am asking these questions ;)
Thanks so much!

The baby is to cute showing off the car.
ResponderEliminarAnd as for your survey no we do not have house help, but I also do not work and my husband works for pesos so its not really a choice. :)
Thanks Amanda,
ResponderEliminarYour issue is my issue ;) I am not working and my husband also earns pesos and therefore I cannot really afford to be paying people more than 100 pesos a week to clean my house. I can pretty much keep up with it but my helpers have proven to be a necessity in instances such as when I got food poisoning, got giardia, or was just way to tired from being pregnant. Anyhow, I was paying them 300 pesos to clean my whole house (3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, study, outside, kitchen, living room) but I finally had to tell them that I could not afford that. They thought I was firing them and wanted to give me my key back etc. But I said, wait, what if you clean half the house, upstairs or downstairs for half the money. They were not responsive at all to my plight which kind of irritated me. They have no other income so I felt bad but really what can I do? Anyhow, I just found out that they really are working at another house and they tell that lady how much I give them and she told them that no way can she afford to pay that. Her house is almost the size of mine plus they do all of her laundry (she has a husband and two kids). So I am feeling a little like they are trying to take advantage.
Thanks for your input and I hope everything is going smoothly for you during your pregnancy.

I sadly do not live in Mexico, but I have a friend who does and has a housekeeper. Her housekeeper comes three times a week. She cooks, cleans, and does laundry. (She's generally there a couple hours each day.) I believe she earns 300 pesos a week.
My husband and I work full-time plus have other commitments, so when we're short on time ( or energy), we hire my SIL to come clean. She's recent college grad still looking for work, so she likes the extra money and we like the break. She only comes 1 day a week and she dusts, sweeps, mops, and cleans the bathroom. It usually takes her 6 hours to clean the whole house, we feed her if something's on the stove, but that's b/c she's family. I don't know if others offer a meal to housekeepers. We usually give her 100-150 pesos.
ResponderEliminarHope that helps.
Hey Nikki! I don't know about your housekeeper thing, but showed Larry what you said about your car, and he said it's crap. His step-father was a mechanic, so he grew up working on cars, and has always done most everything we need done to our cars. And he says there's no real reason why you can't run your air. He said to ask you; before he advises you to just go ahead and run it, if you could ask the guy his reasoning. (Im curious to know too!)
ResponderEliminarOn other notes....I hope you're feeling well! I think about you a lot! I wish our kiddos could grow up together, that would be so precious! Oh, and "Jose Richardo" has my vote for Baby Novembre! Joey's first middle name is Robert...We'd both have a "J.R."! LOL
Im assuming that's after your hubby & daddy?! How's Enrique getting ready for the baby? Does he have a clue? (What's HIS middle name?)
Oh Nikki...It's not as hard as you're probably trying to trick you brain into thinking it is. You're already a wonderful young mother, you'll do just great! =)
I want pictures upon pictures upon PICTURES!!!
PS: The kids start back to school on Tuesday, WOOHOO! So, gimme a call sometime during the day if you can!
ResponderEliminarPSS: I Loooooooove Enrique's hair!!! That baby hair that's not long, but not short, that kinda flips up in the back...Awwwww!!
Enrique, your cousin Jessie LOVES you, Lil' Mister! *Kisses & Huggies* =)
Hey Nikki, I live in Puerto Vallarta and I am a busy girl and yes I sure do have help, she comes 2 times a week usually and I pay her 200 pesos per time. I don't feed her and she does everything for me, she has also become a good friend over the years. She sews, cooks, cleans, pays bills, does shopping, basically whatever I ask her to do. I have found her some other great jobs and she is making good money and very happy!!!

Katie, thanks for giving me your input. I gather that your friend's helper gets 100 pesos a day which has been the general advice given to me here.
ResponderEliminarLeah, also, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Thats great that you are helping out a family member and receiving a service in return. So far everyones comments are helping me greatly.
Chantel, thanks so much for commenting. It sounds like you have a great helper who is very willing and efficient. It also sounds like you treat her very well and have helped her out a lot.
Thanks everyone, I will add a post later on today.
